English: Preserved Maidstone & District bus 5385 (reg. LKP 385P), a 1975 Volvo Ailsa B55 double-decker with Alexander AV bodywork, pictured at the 2009 Cobham bus rally at Wisley Airfield.
M&D bought 5 such vehicles in December 1975 as a double-decker comparison trial for the National Bus Company, alongside MCW Metropolitans and Bristol VRT/3's. This was the last of the batch, which was numbered 5381 to 5385 (LKP 381-385P). The company opted for the Bristol, leaving the Ailsa's as non-standard in the fleet. |
