維持和平

維持和平，簡稱維和，係指一啲保持和平嘅活動，特別係喺打仗之後，令敵方之間嘅和平盡量長久。研究結論一般都同意，維和嘅活動能夠減少平民同軍事傷亡，同時會減低打仗復發嘅機會。

喺聯合國憲章嘅第7章，聯合國有表明會喺唔同嘅戰爭場面，派維和部隊盡量維持當地嘅和平，避免局勢再一次緊張而令戰爭復發。所以，喺聯合國嘅成員國入面，一般都會有共識，容許維和部隊喺戰場當地做維和工作。呢啲工作可能包括經濟同社會上嘅援助，亦包括幫助雙方實行和約嘅條款。因爲聯合國嘅維和部隊都會帶藍色嘅頭盔嚟做標記，所以佢哋亦被稱之爲“藍頭盔”(英文：Blue Berets / Blue Helmets)。

除咗聯合國之外，其他組織都會做維和工作。例如，喺科索沃戰爭之後，北約喺科索沃成立咗維和部隊。喺蘇丹戰爭之後，非盟亦同樣喺當地成立咗維和部隊。

喺國際法之下，維和部隊係屬於中立人士，因爲佢哋並唔支持任何一邊嘅利益，純碎係鼓勵各方保持和平。因爲咁，所以佢哋名義上喺任何時間，都唔應該受任何一邊襲擊。
