新發現嘅生物佢哋嘅雙名法學名通常都反映出發現人嘅興趣，或者一啲佢想致敬嘅人。以下係一啲以哈利波特系列嘅內容命名嘅現實世界生物。
脊椎動物 編輯
- †霍格華茲龍王龍（Dracorex hogwartsia）係龍王龍屬嘅模式種，以霍格華茲魔法與巫術學院命名。[3]
- Trimeresurus salazar係一種蝮蛇，以霍格華茲四位創始人之一嘅薩拉札·史萊哲林（Salazar Slytherin）命名。[4]
無脊椎動物 編輯
- Alastor moody係蜾蠃嘅一種，以「瘋眼」穆敵（Alastor moody）命名。[5]
- Ampulex dementor係泥蜂嘅一種，以催狂魔（dementor）命名，催狂魔係駐守阿茲卡班監獄嘅魔幻生物。呢種蜜蜂個樣有啲似催狂魔。[6][7]
- Aname aragog係線蛛嘅一種，以海格以前嘅蜘蛛寵物阿辣哥（Aragog）命名，阿辣哥喺第六集《哈利波特—混血王子的背叛》死咗。[8][9]
- Eriovixia gryffindori係金蛛嘅一種，以霍格華茲四位創始人之一嘅高錐客·葛萊分多命名。隻蜘蛛個樣好似分類帽，而分類帽原本就係屬於葛萊分多嘅。[10]
- Harryplax severus係擬團扇蟹嘅一種，開頭係同時代表個屬同個種[12]，屬名Harryplax同時對Harry T. Conley同哈利波特致敬，呢個屬係單型屬，H. severus係佢唯一一個物種。種名係以石內卜（Severus Snape）命名，霍格華茲嘅教職員、校長。[13][14]
- Lycosa aragogi係狼蛛嘅一種，以海格嘅蜘蛛阿辣哥命名。[18][19][20]
- Ochyrocera aragogue係花洞蛛嘅一種，都係以海格嘅蜘蛛阿辣哥命名。[21]

- Macrocarpaea apparata係龍膽科嘅一種植物，以英文字「apparate」命名，即係現影術對應嘅動詞[23][24]。
