Moving to yue?

編輯

Hi, I'm just wondering one thing: Since the ISO 639-3 has now been published, Cantonese has its own language code, yue. Because of this, the zh- prefix in the URL of the Cantonese Wikipedia is no longer necessary, in my opinion. What is your opinion on moving it from zh-yue.wikipedia.org to yue.wikipedia.org? Has this been discussed before? Sorry to bother you. (I just asked the same question on zh-min-nan, which has ISO 639-3 code nan. Jon Harald Søby 2007年2月23日 (五) 21:25 (UTC)

I don't remember this topic has actually been raised. I personally have no strong or particular opinion toward this topic. BTW, thank you very much for your reminder--WikiCantona 2007年2月24日 (六) 01:37 (UTC)
I think it's not been raised after the establishment. Before the establishment, there is a consent using ISO 639-3 as the wikipedia code. Some had opposed the idea because it'd be better to use cantonese or yuet. I think new using "yue" is more desirable than "zh-yue". First using ISO code conforms to meta:Language proposal policy. Second, it is easier to write yue rather than zh-yue, especially saving my fingers when massively updating interwiki links in other wikis. Third, yue is more intuitive and is easier to remember than zh-yue. Fourth, from programming prospective, some earlier tools would be broken when encountering a "-" sign.
