I hereby request adminship here at zh-yue.wikipedia. Although I do not speak Cantonese (yet), I have long been interested in the language and determined to learn it some time. I would be delighted and honored to have the opportunity to help build a powerful Cantonese Wikipedia, although at first my contributions will be only maintenance and building up the basics, such as the Babel project. – Krun 16:29, 29 三月 2006 (UTC)

1. My final thought: helping with such jobs doesn't require admin status. Rather, content-viewing and consequential protection or deleting are more important jobs for an administrator. As a person who doesn't understand Cantonese, I think Krun is not yet capable for the job. --翹仔 07:14, 30 三月 2006 (UTC)

2. My greatest apologies; It would be ridiculous for a user to become an admin if he does not know the language at all or know it at a rudimentary level. Krun, if you can master Cantonese up at least level 2 or 3, plus a satisfactory standard of behaviour in maintaining and editing articles, I will definitely support you. I have been an active contributor to Wikipedia since last autumn. I am an admin at the Icelandic Wikipedia, and have been editing a lot there lately. I have therefore become quite familiar with how Wikipedia works, with the markup, etc. I have translated and written some articles, but most of my work is maintenance. I have been working extensively at eliminating redundant images (mainly flags and logos for now), and have contributed quite a bit to the recently started transition to SVG flags and logos. I have also extended the Babel project at some Wikipedias, and I myself started the Babel project at the English Wiktionary. To what extent do you understand the working principle of Wikipedia and PHP? Also, dealing with images means a need to recognize copyright tags. Are you sure you can complete the job without knowing Cantonese? --翹仔 17:07, 29 三月 2006 (UTC)

1. I am not very familiar with PHP, being rather new to it. Still, I am a quick learner, and I also doubt that I will need very advanced knowledge of PHP. I am, however, very familiar with the syntax of tables and templates, images, links, tags, etc.; anything used in articles.
2. If standardized copyright tags (with easily recognizable logos or acronyms) are used, as on other Wikipedias, determining copyright status will not be a problem. I could also help with importing such tags. – Krun 17:44, 29 三月 2006 (UTC)
